2004 Pasqua Valpolicella Sagramoso

The 2004 Pasqua Valpolicella Sagramoso was a gift dating back to our Christmas party. Musty at first, followed by some pepper, black earth and dark cherry notes. It starts crisp, coating the palate with velvety green tannins, some almondy flavours. A modest finish, but very few faults in this flavourful, polished valpo after a 30 minute decant. Great Value.
cork. 13.5% alcohol
Score: 16/20
Price: C$21.65 (for the '05 at SAQ)

Could this be one for which I manage to have a back issue review before Joe did?
It's the 2003 but it sounds quite similar to this 04, We share a lot of the same terms in our notes: green, fruity but in need of aeration.

I've enjoyed the 2003 & '04 Solane Valpolicella, definite a good bargain for even less than this one.

Hi Marcus. This probably isn't the only one - that post predates my blog...definitely needed aeration, something not all Ripassos require. I may have to try the '05 now.

Hi David. We have the Solane Ripasso here, same price as the Sagramoso - I smell a blinded head-to-head...

Try the 05 in Ontario. This bottle tends to be **$7** cheaper there when it went on sale. Now I think the gap may have closed somewhat.
