Swim, Bike, Run

Source: Wikipedia

Today I completed the Montreal Triathlon, finishing the Sprint distance at a respectable middle of the pack for my age group - not bad for rookie. What does this have to do with wine, you ask?

Well, training for a tri has impacted my posting frequency, as late night fatigue has made my bed the more attractive option vs. late night blogging. And the loss of nearly 8% of my body mass also means that I feel the effects of the wine more quickly, resulting in more use of the VacuVin - putting the wine aside for another day.

So, after a week of no drinking (yes, BIG sacrifices have been made...), what does one pull from the cave to celebrate a personal success? Vintage champagne, of course!

Stay tuned...

There are rumours...not started by me....yet...that your Triathlon consists of a short bike ride to the town..a jog up the steps to the wine shop and after purchasing,..a quick swim in your bathtub before pulling the cork

I'll put my name down for Barry's version of the triathalon!

Well done Joe, just think of all the food and wine you'll need to consume to get back to your 'normal' weight. . .

Barry, I have been training for that event my whole life, only recently mastering the run to swim transition - I never know whether to pull the cork before or after the tub.

Ed, thanks for helping spread that rumour - I could be an urban legend before I know it. Is the good doctor prescribing a large intake of food and drink? I think I just bought myself a year off Lipitor, don't wreck it with your quack medicine :)

Congrats. I was thinking of you on the weekend. On Sunday the marathon went by my hood and I was thinking you were doing your race too.

Let me know if you want to go back to Bu again -- if you not already training for the next triathlon. This week of interest on the by-the-glass list is a Montevertine and a trio Pinot Noir: http://bu-mtl.com/Vins_Verre
