Berry Picking

We went for our annual raspberry picking with the kids today. A bumper crop, with lots of juicy red berry fruit. It looks like the cool, damp weather has been very kind to the berry farmers. The baskets of ripe, freshly-picked berries reminded me of Pinot Noir...

After the berry picking, we went for a nature hike, where wild blackberries were ripening on the bush. Note the lone dark berry hidden in the upper right corner - the kids devoured the rest. Wishing for a Cabernet Sauvignon...

So how did Joe turn a family event into a wine tasting? Stay tuned...

I love berries - especially the shocking colour they leave on your face / hands / lips as you try to fit as many in your mouth in a short a period as possible

Yes, and I am sure you can picture my three little ones covered with Rasperry - you forgot to mention the clothes... While berry picking is an annual event here, I suspect it is not as thrilling for those of you in the Garden of Eden!

Yum, looks very tempting. Too bad the kids got them all, I bet they would have made excellent preserves!

Well, the raspberries made it into jam. When I said the kids ate them all, there were too few blackberries for that sort of thing. We were probably a week early.
